Description
The Henry® .45-70 is a hard-hitting, fast handling lever-action rifle, with enough knock down power for hunting the largest species of big game in North America. This Henry rifle is constructed with a hardened brass receiver, that shares the same tensile strength as steel, and an octagon barrel. The receiver has a solid top with side ejection, and is drilled and tapped for a scope mount. There is no loading port on the side of the receiver as ammunition is loaded directly into the tubular magazine from the top. The lever features an enlarged loop to accommodate gloved hands. Henry utilizes an internal transfer bar safety that prevents hammer contact with the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. The rifle cannot fire from being dropped onto the hammer, nor will it accidently fire if the shooter’s thumb slips from the hammer while cocking. (There is no manual cross-bolt safety or traditional half-cock notch safety.) The trigger pull is crisp and clean, allowing for fine accuracy. The rifle comes with a fully-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight, and a dovetailed, blade front sight. The Henry .45-70 is an attractive lever-action rifle, with an American walnut stock, a brass-capped walnut fore-end, and a brass butt plate. The barrel and magazine tube are blued. Sling swivel studs allow the attachments of a sling for ease of carry. The design and function of the Henry rifle are traditionally American, as well as the .45-70 cartridge it fires. Made in USA.
