The Smith & Wesson® M&P® Bodyguard 38 is a 5-shot, +P rated, double-action revolver chambered in .38 Special. The revolver employs an aluminum cylinder frame with an integrated barrel/ejector rod shroud, and the cylinder is made of PVD-coated stainless steel. A stainless steel barrel insert fits inside of the barrel shroud. To further reduce weight, the lower frame assembly, consisting of the grip frame and trigger guard, is made of polymer. A concealed hammer prevents the gun from snagging while being drawn rapidly from a holster, pocket, or purse. A fixed, grooved rear sight and a pinned, fast-draw front sight allow quick shooting. The ambidextrous cylinder release lever on the upper-rear portion of the cylinder frame allows quick use with either hand.
